The Stone
Tourmaline is one of the most chemically complex minerals on earth, which is exactly why it appears in nearly every color of the spectrum. The Dutch used black tourmaline (schorl) to draw ash from Meerschaum pipes — they called it "aschentrekker," ash puller — which gave early insight into its piezoelectric properties. Today it's known as a stone of protection and grounding, believed to create a psychic shield around the wearer.
